I really enjoyed the Dargaville Quilt Show. There were lots of quilts, all very good, here's a few that appealed to me.
This quilt was really impressive. It was nice seeing the photo the centre was made from with the quilt, and reading the Newspaper article. (link to read this, below newspaper photo)

This workmanship of this next quilt was amazing! The Appliqué is just so good and the beading perfect. When I looked over my photos I realised I had not taken a photo of the whole quilt..... a bit annoyed with myself about that, but enjoy the blocks I did take photos of.
Here's a link to Esther Aliu's Blog, there's a lot of lovely things to see there so go and have a look.

I thought this House Quilt was very clever, with a lot of details, oh and look there's a sideways view of the flower quilt!See the fussy cut fabric in the window?
The border was a fence, just perfect for the cottages.

I liked this wallhanging and thought it would be a good way to use up some of those notions that I don't use but feel are too good to throw away.
love how it's embellished with all the notions, especially the pink safety pins and ric rac.

Loved this with it's 3D beaks and combs. Interesting story of how she found the pattern too!
Some bits were 3D, very clever & fun.

Nice to see a Sampler Quilt, they seem rare nowadays.
Close up of some of the quilting. Leeanne of Quiltmekiwi quilting always amazes me.

This hand pieced quilt was amazing. I especially like the use of striped fabrics in this quilt.
I'm glad that negative comment didn't stop Tonia from making this quilt.
Love how the stripes enhance the Whirlygig design.

I nearly missed seeing this quilt as it was behind the entrance table. So glad I didn't as the detail was amazing.
That's real Kauri Gym attached to the quilt. I loved all the details and then working out how they were done. Love the boot laces, the blackened outside of the pots (but shiny insides). Everywhere you looked there was something to say wow about. Wish I had taken more photos of it.
See the knife? It was a small piece of silver vinyl, but the way it is only attached to the hand made it look so real. Amazing work.
I was really impressed with the show too, so much variety! I loved Ann's sewing essential piece, all the bits & pieces. Tonia's Whirlgig was what got my vote, I loved everything about it, down to the circle label that she put on the front of the quilt......but that's just between you & me............
ReplyDeleteThank you for the show and tell Leeann. I couldn't get over but I'm so pleased you got some photos for me to see :-)
