Cross Terrain - A Long Neglected UFO

I finished a long neglected UFO on Friday, so I thought after catching up with my other posts I'd share it with you all.

I made all the blocks at a retreat, and then pieced the top when I came home.
The poor thing has waited a very long time for me to quilt it.

If you look hard you can see when I made the blocks in this photo. (It really is a long time ago)

I made Magic Binding for the first time and it is so easy so I will be doing this again. It's so great not to having to hand sew the binding down, and I really like the faux flange.

Auckland Festival of Quilts 2015- The Forgotten Post!

Just starting to blog again after being in holiday mode and I found this post waiting in my draft folder! Oh well better late than never! Here are three spectacular quilts, the last two are the same pattern (Caswell Quilt) but I love how different fabrics and quilting make such a difference.

Christmas Meeting 2015

Well I’ve have a lovely holiday with lots of family visiting, a few swims to cool down, and a total break from routines! I hope you all managed to have a happy & relaxing time too.

Now that it is nearly time for me to return to work, I thought I should catch up with my neglected blog. So here are some photos from our December meeting.

Made by Lyn Madden- practicing her machine quilting with a ruler.

This sweet Xmas quilt “Frosties Friends” is Lyn Madden’s too. It was a block swap with friends. Each made 1 Frostie, 1 Star and 5 Nine Patch Blocks.

Made by Maureen Gray after she moved house, and it will be a gift for someone special.

Machine and hand embroidered notebook cover made by Shirley Julian.

“Snowpea” by Sonya Prchal thread painted for her son and his girl friend for Xmas.

Floor Mat made by Donna Rowan.

Shibori dying by Christine Donelly done in a class at Picton Mini Symposium.

Cushion by Terri Mills.

The Christmas Challenge for Club Members this year was to make a Christmas table runner.

This was voted by Members to be the winner. Made by Donna Rowan. Very Modern & New Zealand, but still very Christmas too. Well done Donna.

This was the most participated Challenge in years, so here are a few photos of the other entries for you to enjoy.
