EQ7 How to Video's

The Electric Quilt Company has just added new 'How to Video's' on their website for EQ7.

As well as the links below, I have put the a link on the sidebar, under my EQ7 badge. If you have the software go and have a look, I'm sure you will learn something. And if you are thinking about buying EQ7 then you will get a good look at what the software can do.

There are currently nine Video's, and they plan to add more. The Video's are:

Creating Blocks Without Drawing

Designing a Basic Quilt

Drag and Drop Blocks

Find Fabrics, Colors and Blocks Using the Eyedropper Tool

Help is Everywhere!

Turning Photos into Blocks by Tracing

Using Fabric Scans in Your Project

Using the Photo Layout

Using Photo Symmetry

I've Been Playing...

...with EQ7. Haven't done much yet (not much time), but thought you would like to see something. So I have made a few little quilts using the new 'Clip and Flip' feature. With this you start with a block and then EQ7 cuts it into quarters, the clip part and flips these units around to make new blocks.

So each quilt has the starting block in top left hand corner, and then I used 'clip and flip' to create the other blocks. There are many more combinations for each block I just picked four I liked to make these little quilts.

I've used the sashing between these little 4 block quilts, so you can easily see each new block. Now lets try picking 2 blocks and combine them without sashing

I think the possibilities are endless so that's it for now, I better go and cook dinner!

For everyone waiting for their EQ7 to be delivered, I hope you enjoyed this quick peek at 'Clip and Flip'.

And the Winner is.....

I picked a winner yesterday after a few false starts. The first two people I picked had no contact details, so I had to redraw. I wanted to make the draw before I went to work, but because of these false starts I ran out of time! Anyway as soon as I got home it all went to plan. A lot of people asked me how I was going to do the draw. I went to this Random Number website and let it do it for me. I had 543 comments and 101 followers so I added these together and went from there.

So the winner is kcrock. I emailed her last night and she quickly emailed back saying 'Wow I can't believe it. I never win anything. Thanks so much.' So who is kcrock? She is Claire Vivash of Auckland. Congratulations Claire.

Claire has two blogs Kazart & The Garden Pixie so check them out. Her cats test her quilts just like mine does! I got another email this morning which said 'I thought I had dreamed it last night so pleased to see it is real.' I know how she feels. I was like that when EQ emailed me. When I rang a friend to share the news, I think my friend thought someone had died, as I was in so much shock!

This competition has been a blast! It seems like nearly every quilter interested in EQ7 has visited my blog over the last few weeks. I would like to say a Big Thank You to everyone who visited, made comments and became followers.

From the first post on 26 April saying EQ7 was coming till the contest closed on 19 May, I had 4081 visits to the blog!

It was amazing to see people from all over the world coming to have a look at my little blog. I had visitors from USA, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Taiwan, Netherlands, Hungary, Norway, Costa Rica, Romania, South Africa, New Zealand (of course), and heaps more. I hope you liked what you saw and will visit again.

I wish you all could have been winners, sorry. But if you want to get EQ7 check out  The Electric Quilt Company because EQ7 is on special till 31 May, and the savings are really incredible.

Lastly thank you to The Electric Quilt Company for being so generous.

EQ7 Give Away!

Remember I told you that  The Electric Quilt Company was having a competition for bloggers?

Well my blog is one of the lucky ten blogs to win! That means I have a new EQ7 program to give away! And they are giving me one too. I'm so excited!

Anyway, you want to know how YOU can win EQ7 don't you?

Well, it's going to be a lucky draw.

  • 1 entry each time you make a comment about a post (end the comment with "EQ7", so I know you want to enter)
  • 1 entry when you become a Follower of this blog

It's easy, so have a go. The more comments you make the more chances you will have.

You will have to use a Name, and include an email address, (if you don't have a Google Account) so I can contact you, if you win. Anonymous comments and Followers won't work for this! Hope that all makes sense, ask me questions if not.

The Competition starts now and goes to 10.00pm New Zealand time May 19. I will make the draw on Wednesday May 20. Then I will email the winner, and forward their name and shipping address to the Electric Quilt Company. They will send the prize directly to the winner when they start shipping EQ7 on 7 June. I will post the winners name on the blog on May 21.

IMPORTANT UPDATE PLEASE READ: I have noticed a few people leaving comments need to edit their user profiles and tick "show my email address". So if they are the lucky winner I can contact them! Please go and do it NOW. Thanks

Exciting News EQ7 Coming Soon!

Exciting News..... EQ7 is coming shortly. Below I have copied some details of EQ7 as a teaser for you all. The Electric Quilt Company is going to give 10 blogs free copies to give away, so hopefully this blog will be picked, wouldn't that be great!

Two things that jump out to me are that EQ7 will be Netbook Compatible, and they have changed the Activation Policy. Old policy was 4 Activations, which was a worry if your computer crashed, or you purchased a new computer etc. New policy is that you can activate and deactivate EQ7. You get unlimted installations, so it can easily be transferred between computers. You may have two computers simultaneously active.

I know several club members have EQ6 and enjoy using it. EQ7 still works the same as EQ6, so don't worry about having to learn it from scratch, but it will have heaps of extras. It's being released on 7 June, so start saving now.
