Congratulations to June Nixey, she has been awarded the Queens Service Medal, for her services to prisoner rehabilitation programmes.

For those who don’t know, June has been teaching quilting to prisoners for over 20 years. Here’s a link to a news story about her work earlier in the year.

If you would like to know more about her work at the prison, I also posted a link to an interview she did on National Radio earlier in the year.

Christmas Challenge 2013

We always have a Christmas Challenge at Club.  This year the challenge was it made a 'stuffed' Christmas item, and to include a piece of supplied white and gold Xmas fabric in your creation.

The Challenge was well supported this year with over 20 entry's. It's always a secret who has made what, so a bit of the fun is guessing who has made each item too.

019
There were lots so I took several group photos.

020
They were all different, and fun.

021
Some were in traditional red and green, some not.

022
I'm sure they will all be decorating homes now.

023
1st Place was this 'Kiwi Christmas' tree by Rose Sylvestor. It was the one I voted for too!
I loved how Rose has fussy cut the Jandals to become decorations on the tree.

027
2nd Place were these sweet Christmas Angels made by Bernice Spear

025
3rd Place was this bejewelled Partridge made by Tric Carter.
