The last few days has been so sad watching the coverage of the Christchurch Earthquake. We are all still hoping for more rescues. I hope everyone has been able to contact their loved ones, I can't imagine what it feels like to have to wait for news. I have been watching TV constantly hoping for more rescues.
Today I felt I needed to take a break from watching, so have had a look at a few blogs and You Tube. I found these two clips of Bonnie Hunter, of Quiltville.
This first video is about why she quilts. And I'm sure everyone has been asked these questions by non-quilters too.
This Video is longer and covers how she came up with her 'Scrap User System', & 'Leaders and Enders'.
Cool Leeann!! Thanks for that, there is no return to using a 'scrap rat' for me...I have Bonnie's Leader & Ender book and love her piecing tips and scrap user system, well worth a bit of time to set up.I would love her other books too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the gift of actually "meeting Bonnie". I'm from Spain and have to rely on the tube for most of my quilting acquaintances. My toughts with all the victims of the quake, there are 16 spanish people not yet located in Christchurch. I can't imagine the pian of throw families being at the other end of the world. Take care
ReplyDeleteI just watched your posted videos of Bonnie, Leeann! How I would love to go to a workshop of hers! What a wealth of info she must give. I'm going to get her book from the library, if I can. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have "borrowed" that first video for my own blog.
ReplyDeletePeace be with you.
thanks, Leeann. I finally have "met" Bonnie. I will get to meet her in person next month in Alabama, USA.
ReplyDeleteThat was fabulous!! Thank you!! I just found Bonnie w/ Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll (still creeping along, as I started 2 of them & have had life "intervene" in my quilting). But I never really *got it* about Leaders & Enders. Awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll be able tyo give it a try as I just ordered Scraps & Shirttails 2 & want to make every quilt in there. :-)
Thanks for those videos! I have met Bonnie and she's wonderful I hope you will get to meet her too someday. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose are so great -- thank you for posting the link to them!
ReplyDeleteHi Leanne, thanks for sharing this videa, I have been glued to the updates on Christchurch, I just can't seem to tear myself away from the tele, but htis was a great diversion, thanks ever so much!
ReplyDeleteHi Leanne,
ReplyDeleteYour blog is very cool I will start following it. I am actually a kiwi teacher in SIngapore and after the events of last week with the earthquake myself and a whole bunch of teachers were wanting to do something to help the victims of the quake. I know it was a wonderful group of Christchurch women who banded together and put together the quilts for the Pike river Mining families. I was wondering if you know anyone coordinating the same again for the people in Christchurch. I have lots of friends who would like to create some squares. We just need somewhere to send them.
Thank you so much for your help with this and congrats on such a cool blog.
Kind regards,
Andrea
Wonderful videos...Bonnie is amazing! The Christchurch incident is just so sad, and my prayers go with them all!

Christchurch needs money donated to the Red Cross at the moment. There probably will be quilts made too, but that will be later.
