I just watched this TED talk and found very interesting so I thought I would share it here.
It's nearly two years since I had the hard job of clearing my Mothers house, when she went into a rest home. So I can identify with this a lot.
I hope to have my things more sorted out, so my kids don't have such a hard time....hopefully.
That's one of the reasons I'm trying to use my stash of fabric before I buy any more.
PS: there are some interesting fibre art works to see in this talk too!
I loved the "precious" discussion! Definitely very interesting! And yes - after having the difficult task of cleaning out the house after my Mom died - and then 5 years later cleaning it out again after my dad died - I can definitely understand! Because of that and also because of an acquaintance's passing on and seeing how much and the difficulty her family had with the lady's quilt stash/projects/kits and so on, it is because of that that I've decided some time ago to not buy new unless I absolutely couldn't help it. Instead I am using yardage I already had, scraps I had - and those that my dd sends me.
