Here are some photos from Show n Tell at the last meeting. I didn’t get to take photos of everything, and some are a bit washed out because of the sun!
Lovely Spider Web quilt made by Helen Barron, close up below so you can see the interesting fabrics Helen used.
Close up below of some of Pauline’s hand embroidery.
'Tentacles' a OMG (Organic Modern Graphic) Quilt by Sonya Prchal
Rose wall hanging made by Shirley Julian.
Woven fabric made by Lynne O’Donnell after watching Lyn Madden’s demonstration of the technique last month. Lynne plans make a bag with it.
Club member Lyn Madden (above left) spoke at the meeting, about how her quilting journey. This quilt was made from a scrappy block swap with friends a few years ago.
The next meeting (September 12th) will be at the Vintage Car Club Rooms again, as repairs are still on going to the Maunu School Gym. We hope to be back at the school in October, fingers crossed .

Our Precious Possessions
I just watched this TED talk and found very interesting so I thought I would share it here.
It's nearly two years since I had the hard job of clearing my Mothers house, when she went into a rest home. So I can identify with this a lot.
I hope to have my things more sorted out, so my kids don't have such a hard time....hopefully.
That's one of the reasons I'm trying to use my stash of fabric before I buy any more.
PS: there are some interesting fibre art works to see in this talk too!

Opua Arts Studio and Gallery
Here is Charlotte with her work in progress. The fabrics are her own hand dyes and the moon is made with fabric stained by rust.
Zoomed out, showing the tidy work space. When I sew there is stuff everywhere, and scraps over the floor too.I have just noticed that Charlotte is wearing the same colours she is working with!
These two photos where taken from the amazing upstairs space, where Charlotte plans to hold Stitch n Chat days, and Classes. It is truly a beautiful place.
Please use this link to visit Charlotte's blog The Slightly Mad Quilt Lady to read more about her Studio and Gallery, and see more of her amazing art work.
PS I forgot to take a photo outside so have captured this image from street view. The gallery is circled in red, the Car Ferry to Russell is just a few metres to the left.

Show N Tell July 2015
Well the July meeting was awhile ago now. Sorry I’m so late in posting, but I thought I better before the August meeting comes and goes too!
“Welcome to the Food Chain” made by Donna Rowan for her niece (a Zoo Keeper with a quirky sense of humour) who is having a baby boy.
Minkee quilt made by Lynne Wilson, for her Husband.
Leonie Fleming made the wall hangings above and below for her nieces in Guernsey.
One loves red and the other cats
Marion Moon made these two quilts after taking a club class with Pam Carr.
Rose Silvester made this cushion for Jean King’s 80th Birthday.
Shelia Ujdur made this for her son and daughter in-law to hang in their Music Room.
********************************
The July Meeting was also a “Mini Symposium” day with ten club members demonstrating different quilting techniques. There was seminole piecing, woven fabric, easy piecing, foundation piecing, thread painting, and heaps more! I can’t remember them all.
I did my demo several times throughout the day, so I didn’t get to see the others .
That was the only negative of the day. I'm sure all of us demonstrating felt that way.

The committee made wonderful soups for our lunch, which was perfect as it was a chilly day. During the lunch break I took the show n tell photos and also got a couple of the demos tables snapped too.
Here is Sonya’s demo as she left it to go to lunch. She was Demo-ing thread painting, and I think she also shared one of her OMG (Organic Modern Graphic) quilts.
And this was Lynda’s demo table. She was demo-ing “Inchies” and different ways to use these decorative miniatures. (see a little box made from inchies in the top right of this photo)
Ok that’s all the photos I took, I wanted to have my soup before lunch was over!
