I did some sewing today!

After all the Christmas Stuff, Boxing Day sales & going to the beach of the last few days, I did some sewing today. Here’s a teaser, I made my first Selvage Blocks.

This is in honour of Selvage Blog having one of my photo’s on it today. Not a sewing photo, a beach photo as there is so much snow in the USA at the moment they need cheering up!

You’ll have to check back in a couple of days to see what they are going to be turned into!

Christmas Food

My favourite Christmas food is strawberries. My Hubby has a large veggie garden so we grow our own. As we had a couple of days with a lot of rain (yay drought broken!) the strawberries have grown really large.

My son picked this strawberry as its really massive about 3 times the normal size, and was just about to eat it. Then he found this on the other side!

Some snail has had his Christmas dinner early!

Oscar the cat also thought all his Christmas’s had come at once, when I was re-filling his cat biscuit container from the bulk bag. I didn’t have the heart to stop him.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Free Quilting Shows to View

UPDATE I have had a comment that the programme wouldn't play. You do need broadband, but there's another tip I forgot to put in this post. If you are having trouble and it won't load or is jumpy, make sure the button on the far right of the task bar reads faster internet speeds NOT slower internet speeds. I have a screen shot below and I have Circled the button in red. It's come up small on the blog so if you can't see it then click on it to make it bigger! Hope this helps. Good Luck.

PS I can't get the Linda Taylor programme to work at all, but I think that's a problem at their end as the others work fine.

The Quilt Show has several shows running for free at the moment. These are like TV shows and are about 45 minutes long. They are extremely good, and have heaps of tips, and demo's of different techniques by some of the worlds leading quilters. I'm sure you will enjoy them, that's why I'm recommending them!

The free shows are episodes with:-

Philippa Naylor (Showstopping Trapunto)

Ami Simms (The Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative)

Rosalie Dace/Jennifer Chiaverini/Michael Cummings (Where Imagination and Reality Meet).

Use this link (The Quilt Show) to get there, and click on the free shows tab. All the shows are good , but I especially enjoyed the show with Jennifer Chiaverini (author of the Elm Creek Novels). To watch this last show you may have to become a member. But it's easy and free, just an email address & password. Leave a comment telling me which show you liked best.  :-)

Christmas Jigsaw Puzzle

We haven't had a jigsaw puzzle for a while so I thought it was about time. Remember that a puzzle piece sometimes hides behind the 'help box'. To get it out you have to click on top of the box and drag it away. Enjoy!

Show n Tell December 2010

First I better say sorry that I didn't take a photo of everything in show n tell this time. Some just came in after I had done the photos, a couple were missed, and the worst is I have a great photo of the label of Rikki's quilt, but no photo of the quilt! (I was going to take a photo, when people stopped standing in front of it, but never got back!) So sorry if your quilt is missing!

This is the second wallhanging Gaye Miller has made using techniques she learnt in Hazel Foot's class. Gaye has made this for her step-Mother who loves frogs. Click on it to see the detail of quilted dragonflies for the frog to eat.
