I watched this video on Youtube the other day about a quick way to unpick. It is kind of cool so I thought I'd share it here. Then I was thinking about all the fun stuff that Youtube has about quilting so I thought I'd share some stuff I look at.
Here's the cool fast way of unpicking
I love the Missouri Star's quilt video's there are so many and all very easy to follow.
This is making a Zipper Pouch, but most are quick techniques to make quilts using pre-cuts.
If you need a refresher in how to do some type of quilting, search Youtube there will be plenty of videos for you to watch and learn. Here's a good one on Big Stitch Quilting.
Anyway if you haven't thought about using Youtube to look up quilting stuff, have a go, you will be surprised at the amount content there is.

Show n Tell February 2015
Finally here's the Show n Tell from over a week ago!
Donna Rowan didn't want to cut the large print fabric into small pieces, so used this pattern 'Nested' by Valori Wells. Donna feels the fabric gives it a retro 1950's vibe.
The Teddy quilt above and Fairy quilt below were made by Dawn Dahlberg for her twin grand daughters. The girls turned 3 recently and Dawn is busy finishing the quilts in time for their party.
This wall hanging made by Pam Carr. This was a Block of the Month Stitchery designed by Lynette Anderson.
Mystery Quilt Class at Symposium, made by Anthea Wild. Class tutored by Jennie Anderson.
Jacqui Howarth made this 'quilt as you go' quilt, using an on-line free motion quilting class with Leah Day. Each block was quilted all in one go without breaking thread.
Made by Fiona Carter, quilted by Wendy Magee. Fiona started this 3 years ago for her son to take to University. But plans changed and he didn't go, so the quilt was put on the back burner.
Fiona used the Hawaiian fabric as a reminder to family holiday in Hawaii.
"Affairs of the Heart" by Jeanette Monaghan, quilted by John Neilsen.
And lastly "Dolphin Days" by Carmel Spray. Made using two ideas from earlier quilts Carmel made back in the 90's. Background inspired by the book "One of a Kind Quilts" by Judy Hopkins.

Making Chanel Haute Couture
I was reading Stuff (news site) this morning and came across this interesting article
See How a $100k Dress is Made.
They had this first video below on Stuff, after watching it I checked out Chanel on Youtube and found a few more of their 'making' videos.
The beading is amazing, very interesting to see how they do it all. The last video here has fashion that looks very quilt like to me too. Go and have a watch and be inspired to embellish!

More from Symposium 2015
There's no surprise I really loved this quilt. It's kind of obvious from how many photos I took!
The beautiful pinks and reds don't seem to be showing up in my photos, so you'll just have use your imagination about the colours!
I couldn't get it all in the photo either :-(
I totally LOVED the use of stripes in this hexagon quilt, and don't you think the name is perfect?
The scalloped binding was the bees knees too!
Love the stripes and subtle colours
On to a few wall hangings from the Hoffman Challenge. This is my friend Rose's entry, and yay she go a Merit!
Best Of Show – Strength In Aroha by Karen Larsen, Te Aroha
This is the fabric for the 2014-2015 Challenge (It's already SOLD OUT)

The New Hoffman Challenge Fabric Has Arrived!
This arrived on Friday, it's the new fabric for Hoffman Challenge.
It is a very different fabric than previous years, so I thought I'd buy some and have a go.
I lot of other quilters must have thought the same as it has now sold out!
Here's the full metre of fabric, well it will be a challenge!
PS; time to re-paint toe nails :-)

Quilt Manawatu- Symposium 2015
There were heaps of inspiring quilts at Syposium, here are a few that grabbed my attention.
What a wonderful way to commemorate an amazing trip.
Every piece of 'window glass' a great memory.
Conquering Christchurch by Sophie Wood.
Somehow I forgot to take a photo of the label, oops. 'Conquering' is an interesting word to use, in the media the softer word- rebuild is usually used.
Sorry for the bad photos of this quilt but it was amazing so I didn't want to leave it out.
"Ode to Tron" by Sue Pope - Hamilton
Loved the use of different size blocks & modern fabrics to jazz up this traditional block design into a modern quilt.
From the tutors exhibit, I liked a lot about this quilt. The big stitch quilting, the large simple shapes of the flowers/leaves, and the different pink background fabrics.
The quilting was just so good on this quilt, it really made it something special.
Which block do you see first?
I saw the 'Drunkards Path', but most friends I asked, see the 'New York Beauty' first.
Wool with lovely big stitches in wool too.
Cool use of stripes.
Beautiful painting and stitching.
Mathea used to be a member of Whangarei P & Q Club when she lived in Whangarei. She is a lovely person and so talented. Congratulations Mathea!
This was a very popular quilt and I think it would have received a lot of votes for viewers choice.
Loved the use of 'word' fabrics in the background. Takes me back a few years to happy days at Play Centre with my boys.
All the colour was stitched or couched. Reminded me of string pictures from my childhood.
More photos later, bye for now
