It's a busy weekend with our Quilt Show now in full swing. This first post from the Quilt Show contains the "Challenge" entries. The Challenge this year was to make a wallhanging using the fabric from a shirt and to include it's buttons too. All the entries also had to have a photo of the original shirt with them too.
There are three sections of the Challenge,
Bronze is for members who have never entered a Challenge before (there is only one winner)
Silver is for members who have entered before but not won a placing in the Silver Section (1st and 2nd place winners)
Gold is for members who have won a place in the Silver Section in previous Quilt Shows (1st and 2nd place winners)

Show n Tell March 2014
It was only a small show n tell on Saturday, as it was also the day to hand in quilts, for our Quilt Show. Details of the Show are just to the right on the side of the blog.
If you are anywhere near Whangarei make sure you come and have a look, it's always a large show and there are Merchants too. If you see me come and say Hi too, I don't bite (much!)
Kim Bodman made the amazing quilt "Lattice" from a magazine at club.
I think this only her second quilt!
She has taken to quilting like a duck to water.
Shelia Ujdur made this sweet baby quilt form one of our new library books.
Close up below so you can see the ric-rac Shelia added over the seams.
Rikki Going is back from sailing the seas, and bought in these table runners and placemats for show n tell.
The top set are a Bargello design, and below is the set she made for a friend who wanted a pink and green..
\
Gaye Miller made these two beautiful cushions for her brother who is in London.
She is hoping they will cheer him up after all the terrible weather they have been having over there.

Where did February go?
Can't believe it's March already! February has been busy, lots of stuff going on from a quick holiday in Tauranga (which was lovely). Very busy at work with a large increase of the school roll (there's a promise of more hours, but we will see). Mum has finally got a placement at a Resthome, lots more to do now with clearing her house and putting on the market, one step at a time everyone keeps telling me.... & Brad has returned to Hamilton, to a new flat, glad all that moving/buying/planning is now done, though I will have to take more stuff down to him as everything didn't fit into the car!
Trying to keep sane I did a little bit of sewing. I made the blue square border for my Split Nine Patch Quilt, and now it is in the "Top" pile.
I also pin tacked my red and white quilt top that I made in 2012 (looked back on the blog to find that out!) It doesn't seem nearly two years since I made it. I pinned it at a UFO class at Northland Sewing Centre (Bernina). I really need to do some quilting now so when I go back this month I have something to show!
