Auckland Festival of Quilts

There were hundreds of quilts on display, but I the more simple designs appealed to me this time.
Here’s my favourites.

This quilt was very different to everything else on display, so was a refreshing change.

This was a very simple design, but I really loved it. It was very ‘fresh’ and ‘clean’.
The quilting of wavy lines really made the quilt special.

Catching Up…The Country Yards Exhibition

It’s a couple of weeks now since I went to The Country Yards Exhibition. It was a lovely morning and I enjoyed the quilts and live music too. Here’s a few photos I took to share.

These two quilts (above and below) are by Suzanne of All the Good Ones are Taken.
It was nice to see them in the ‘flesh’ after seeing them on Suz’ blog.

Show n Tell November 2013

Just a small Show n Tell this month, enjoy...

351
Ngaire Fleming made this in a class with Sarah Fielke in Auckland earlier this year. I love the use of a very large gingham for the setting squares. Close up of one of the blocks below.

352

354
Jessica Fraser cut 96 six inch squares to make this bean bag seat for her newly decorated bedroom. Well done Jess! I hope the beans didn't get every where!

346
Gaye Millar made this king size quilt for her friends wedding anniversary. Machine quilted by Leeannne Hopper. Close up of quilting below.

347

341
Terry Mills made this for her bed. She used machine embroidery instead of appliqué for the roses.
Close up of the machine embroidery below.

342

344
Marion Moon made this I Spy Quilt for a friend's Grandson.

339
Maureen Grey made this for her one year old Great Grandson Blake.

336
Shelia Ujdur purchased this fabric a few years ago at Calico Xmas. She used our recent retreat to make it up, in time for Christmas.

Refurbishment

In case you didn't know Bernina Whangarei has been sold, and is now the Northland Sewing Centre. It has been closed this week for refurbishment.
I have had a peek behind the covered windows and lots of exciting things are happening.
The Northland Sewing Centre is reopening on Monday so make sure pop in to see all the changes and enhance your stash too.
