Crazy Block Class

Well this time I remembered to take some photos of the class.
Some photos are taken with my camera and then my cell phone when my backup batteries were dead!
Also thanks to Donna who let me use her camera in case my cell phone photos didn't come out.
It was the first time I had used my cell phone for photos and they didn't come out too bad so that's a good save next time my cameras batteries die.    ;-)
I really enjoyed tutoring so hopefully I'll get to do it again.
Here are a few photos I took of my students work.
We did some Silk Ribbon Embroidery.

We practiced Bullion stitches.

 made some Iris's

Aren't these Spider Web Roses beautiful?

Love that curved blanket stitch it adds a lot of movement to this block, and the ribbon flowers look great.

Silk Ribbon flowers and Buds

Donna's concentrating hard, I don't think she knew I took her photo!

Tric bought her own magnifying glass / light to class and we were all jealous
Here's Lynne as well as doing the class, Lynne looked after us all by setting up the tables, sorting the tea breaks and cleaning up. Thanks from all of us Lynne, we all appreciate the hard work you put into organising classes for the club.

My First Bullions!

Wish it was billions, hey I'd settle for millions (dollars that is!) but I'm talking about Bullions as in the embroidery stitch.

I'm really pleased with these little roses I made using Bullion Stitch. I had a bit of a mental block about stitching Bullions, as I had been told how hard they were to make. Well that's wrong they were easy and fun.

This little crazy block is going to be a brooch when I'm done with it. Club members may remember me making some of these at the demo table at our last Exhibition.

Here's a few photo's from the last batch (all sold) in case you didn't get to see them. Click on them for a closer look.

I have also been making a few Samplers of embroidery stitches, showing different ways you can use the same stitch and how different it makes them look.

This one is for Chain Stitch.

And this one is Herringbone Stitch.

It's fun thinking what to do next to make the same stitch look different. These are only a few ideas the possibilities are endless I'm sure.

The Samplers will be a good reference when I'm doing crazy stitching and need ideas. I have plans for more stitches and Samplers of combined stitches too.

I'm enjoying a lovely peaceful house, only me home (and Oscar the Cat) as the teenager is finally back at school! Hope you are enjoying some peace and quiet too.

Encrusted Crazy Quilting

I'm doing an online Crazy Quilting class 'Encrusted Crazy Quilting'. The tutor is Sharon B of 'Pin Tangle'. This is the first online class I have taken and I quite like the format. Lessons are posted once a week and then there is a forum to ask questions, and see other students work.

Here are my blocks 'naked' without embellishment. As I do more to them I will post update pictures. The 'white' fabrics are actually pale pink and cream! They didn't photograph well.

Have you taken any online quilting classes? What where they? Did you enjoy them? Leave a comment and tell me about your experiences.
