Dargaville Quilt Show

Last Saturday I went over to Dargaville to see their annual Quilt Show. Here are a few of the quilts that appealed to me.

I really liked this Drunkards Path quilt. (It was much "pinker" in life than the photo shows)

This was an amazing wall hanging depicting Dargaville, see the post card below that was the insipration for making it.

Love the Kereru in the bottom corner.

These hexies were extremely small. I put my knobbly fingers in the label photo below so you can see how small they were. Don't worry I'm not touching the quilt, my fingers are just above it!

Machine Embroidery is big in Dargaville and this is one of the lovely quilts made with embroidered blocks.

Each little machine embroidered/quilted block was sewn together 'Quilt as you go' to make this large quilt.

Close up's of the embroidery/quilting, and so you can see how it is made of blocks pieced together.

Another machine embroidered/quilted quilt. I liked how this one was asymmetrical.

Close up's of a couple of flowers/stars from the quilt.

This reminded me of my Mothers 'Golden Hands' craft books from the 70's that I used it love as a child.
